The shedding of carriages used to happen every weekday morning at Upminster after the peak when 8 became 6. Likewise 2 we’re added to before pm peak.
Please don’t ruin the stations with high rise out to Upminster! I don’t think tfl could do that at Upminster anyway as I think this is a National Rail Station.
Excellent posts this week DG.
Make Travelcards cheaper to remove the financial incentive for working from home.
Save staff costs by encouraging volunteer drivers.
Privatise each of the lines separately to encourage competition.
As a non-Londoner I thought 8 had already happened.
Have one carriage dedicated to pole dancers, charge a premium and take a cut of the tips.

Offer staff lower wages in exchange for living rent free at the station.

Use the rats and mice to make tube sausages.
Turn half the lights off at stations and on trains. People can read electrical devices rather than books.
Don't turn off the escalators, put a gate at the entrance of each one and charge a fee (contactless) to use. Micropayments are a great way of extracting extra Dosh.
Employ trained pickpockets at each station to target the cash-carrying over-50s for additional revenue.
Sell off the Elizabeth line to a Canadian teachers pension fund, well the government did something like that for High speed one.
Do buses take cash again?
Sell the whole thing to Michael O'Leary.
Interest in sponsorship deals seems to have waned lately so probably not much to be made there.

Drop the discount for not entering Zone 1 on a journey across town. It made sense when introduced, but with the orbital lines often as crowded as those in central London it is now counterproductive. Charging less just because someone takes longer to make the journey while using more trains isn't terribly logical.
15a. If there are no stairs, also turn off the escalators.
20) It's the dream of many people to be a train driver, so instead of paying for train drivers charge people to drive a train. An expense turns into a revenue stream.
6a: Discontinue the Night Tube and replace with an express night bus service running all week after 11
6b: After 10pm charge peak fare, and a surcharge after 11:30 (price closer to Uber).

20: Raise monthly season tickets closer to the weekly cap for PAYG and/or remove all annual season tickets.
I hope nobody at TfL reads this...
I know it's meant to be a humourous list, but I'm a bit worried that the number of practical items outnumbers the impractical. I can completely see a number of those implemented in future.
A bit difficult nowadays to remove carriages. It would have to the entire train. Same result of course.
Close the network one day a week, preferably a weekday.
Have off-duty TfL staff pass through carriages selling little packs of tissues.
Change one carriage of each train to first class. Following airline practice of a 1000% markup could grow a market for first class tube travel as a status symbol.
Following on from Cornish Cockney's comment, they could force whiffy passengers to buy a bunch of lavender.
Block mobile phones and charge for a bypass code (somehow).
Terminate the northern Piccadilly at Aldwych and convert the remainder to a premium cost tourist line running non-stop from Heathrow to Knightsbridge (renamed Harrods), Green Park (renamed Buckingham Palace), Piccadilly (Fortnum & Mason), Leicester Square (Red Light District), and Covent Garden. Charge extra for the last two stops as it is too far to walk.
Designate one carriage on the Piccadilly (blue) line once a week for Tory politicians to pull each other apart, install CCTV, and then charge passengers across the network to watch it — “I’m a politician, get me out of here”.
See ... you joke, but years ago during the day Off Peak, the Northern line *REALLY DID* run 3-car trains during the day, because that's all they needed for the smaller number of passengers, so they saved wear and tear and trains by only running half units during the day.
20) Enforce a £10 levy on each game of Mornington Crescent.
Or just scrap the Priv travel for nominated second person, restrict it to the employee only. And means-test travelcards.
Get rid of the 24 hours on Picc line on the weekend. Make the Elizabeth Line 24 hours instead. Heathrow journeys cost more, less stations to run & more efficient new trains. Could also stop central line trains terminating at Ealing Broadway too.
20. Make one car of the longer running routes into a "bar car" for the evening commute and sell alcoholic drinks at inflated prices (and remove the ban on drinking on the tube, as long as you bought it on the tube). Coffee bar for the morning commute (with spillproof reusable cups).
Number 9 is just common sense.

The bar car idea is good too
