If 2020 has taught us anything, it's that life can change in a flash. There are no guarantees in life so make the most of each and every day while we still can.

I was wondering if there is such a word as ‘eptitude’. But I think it’s actually ‘aptitude’, with the antonym changing the vowel?

..but a sensible government would have contingency plans in place in anticipation of a possible pandemic outbreak. Oh, they did but stood it down. A sensible government would have stockpiles of protective clothing for medical staff. Oh, they did but allowed them to get out of date. A sensible government would have a well-funded and properly staffed public health service to maintain the underlying health of the nation. Oh, they did, but ran it down over their years in power. A sensible government would have decent employment regulations and benefit arrangements that would sustain people through difficult times, but they chose not to. A sensible government would suspend travel into and out of our island country to reduce the spread of the disease, but they didn't want to upset the airlines. A sensible government would have a system of testing and tracing potentially infected people ready to go, staffed by local council and health workers with knowledge of their area and its people, but they preferred to contract large private companies with no experience of the work. A sensible government would close all locations where large numbers of people might gather, such as entertainment venues, large shopping centres, places of worship and schools and colleges, but they didn't want to restrict people's 'freedom'. A sensible government would have systems in place to deliver large numbers of vaccines well before they became available and not several weeks after.

But the coronavirus a hoax! But it's only like flu! But it's really deadly, and Donald Trump's actions have saved us all! And he personally developed the vaccine, which Bill Gates made so that he could track us!
