Great!

Super!

I always smile at a newish development here in Stratford-upon-Avon (CV37) where all the roads are names of literary figures - including a Coleridge Close. #12 is a small terraced property without a garage (I think the close is part of the "social housing" area on the development)

I’ve been on a walking tour of that estate, but the guide didn’t mention the Reginald Perrin connection - presumably she wasn’t aware of it or thought people wouldn’t be interested. So thanks for retrospectively adding to my enjoyment.

I didn't get where I am today by reading DG every morning.

I used to go to the church on Beaufort Road (off which lies Beaufort Close), without ever realising how close Reggie Perrin's house was. Somehow I had got it into my head that the location was in Northwood - it turns out I was thinking of "The Good Life" - Northwood standing in for Surbiton.
As for Norbiton, I have used its station many times, but only very rarely did I see a First Class carriage like the one Reggie habitually travelled in. But I'm not a sitcom person |
As a non London teenager when this series was broadcast I knew that Surbiton was in the suburbs. Never having heard of 'Norbiton' I assumed that it was a joke name.

Keyhole Close, otherwise known around here as a banjo.
|
thanks for the nostalgia

Lovely. Thanks, dg.

The street corners appear to be different in the first episode to the others; Tennyson avenue might actually be the same corner as Coleridge close in the later episodes
|
The hedge removal Audley Road must be fairly recent as it's still there (if not the wall) in the Google streetview from March 2019
|
Love the show catchphrases you've wound into your words, DG. Was just imagining the owner of the scrappy plants tuning in today to read. :-D
|
We too used to refer to keyholes as banjos in my childhood in Hainault

Great detective work. Seems that the residents at number 4 haven't heard of Apple Maps' Look Around feature - I'll spare you the very long URL, but it's there.

A day trip to West Bay would make a fine challenge.
Perhaps setting a new world record, starting from bus stop M, of course! |
In those days, many parts of Ealing were used as locations for the 'outdoor' film inserts for BBC shows, as the Film Studios were in Ealing, and the TV studios, where they recorded the 'indoor' bits on Sunday evenings, were in nearby Shepherds Bush.

Sorry I'm a day late, escaped panther at Tolworth.
