You are correct - section 6 is an absolute corker. Hilariously inaccurate distance estimate in the old guide though - it's a bit further than 4.5 miles from Wimbledon Park to Richmond Station...

I have to say that I think that this walk is as good as any in the world. Maybe we always dismiss it because it is on our own doorstep or a lot of it is familiar but I think that in its own different way it is just as good as a walk in the Himalayan foothills or tramping on the South Island in New Zealand. |
The next section's pretty good too. Syon Park, the Grand Union from Brentford to Hanwell Locks (I recommend the Fox as a lunchtime stop) and then up the Brent valley under Wharnecliffe Viaduct, one of IK Brunel's original masterpieces. I might not go for PoP's superlative but it's a lovely walk, ain't no doubt about it. |
