I went last week and heard the singing in darkness. I stood on the edge as I d heard about the conversations and didn't want to be drawn in. It was very powerful.
I certainly intend to visit these old oil storage tanks. Hope they no longer smell of oil. Back in the sixties I was working in Gibraltar and at one time my job took me inside and close to large oil storage tanks, the reek of oil was intense.
As for the turbine hall I hope there is some singing when I make a visit as I shall join in if I know the song.
Thanks for the reminder that I was going to visit The Tanks. Even more thanks for the pointer to the Tania Bruguera piece. Never heard anything from the queue as I was too interested in the queue experience itself! Stayed inside for at least 30 minutes. Got to deal with feelings that it raised in me and after that just enjoyed the space and watching others and trying to make out what they were making of the piece.
I'm not convinced the Tate Modern qualifies as the real world.
And if you are not bored of the olympics, the next torch is going to various Sainsburys this week if you fancy having your photo taken with it.
