Excellent stuff; Tivoli looks like another reason to visit soon.
Sir Tom was playing an open-air gig in Dubrovnik when we were there the week before. We stayed away, but his appeal to the citizens of many nations was undeniable and impressive.
I remember fondly the clatter of the roller coaster from my childhood visits.
Did you see the iconic advertising poster for Copenhagen anywhere with the mother duck leading the ducklings?
Looks great and that's a cool Tom Jones anecdote to have!
Proper memorable indeed! What a stroke of luck!

Sounds like a lovely place to spend a summer's evening.
Sounds brilliant, especially the Tom Jones concert.

"...how Walt Disney might have been inspired by a visit to go away and build something similar." But didn't.
My main memory of Tivoli was being very sick after one of the rides as an 8 year old.

I believe Walt Disney's theme park inspiration was Efteling in the Netherlands, which also has plenty of old-world charm.
Glad you enjoyed Tivoli - I loved it when I visited a few years ago. Dusk on a sunny summer evening is the best time, when all the illuminations come on. It is very old fashioned, in a charming way.
Great in winter as well...and don't forget the connection to London - quoting Wikipaedia - "The amusement park was first called "Tivoli & Vauxhall"; "Tivoli" alluding to the Jardin de Tivoli in Paris (which in its turn had been named after Tivoli near Rome),"Vauxhall" alluding to the Vauxhall Gardens in London."

From previous visits, I thought the entrance gate announced "TIVOLI - VAUXHALL", but I can't spot this on photos on the web.
I once got to go around on that rollercoaster 3 times because they didn’t manage to brake in the right place. I was a bit worried the 3rd go round.
Yes, I have seen Tom Jones at the Tivoli - about forty years ago! Unlike you, I did however manage to see him, from a distance - just a tiny figure with his white gloves gleaming in the gloom.

My Wife tried a spring roll, which was about 95% pepper. She still remembers it!
