DG for a non-cyclist you are far more perceptive about bikes and their needs than the people who are supposedly in charge of meeting those needs

Anyone else want to join in my 'DG for Mayor of London' campaign?

He's got my vote!

Bang on. The situation shows the problems of "localism" when planning for cycling. Cycling is strategic, and to have allowed transport to a huge international event to been messed up basically by the ignorant anti-cycling attitude of Robin Wales, Mayor of Newham, is a colossal national fail.

Thanks for writing this - all the more powerful coming from a non-cyclist.

You'd never think that cycling is an Olympic event, AND (sorry) one that the host nation is rather good at - would you?

So true DG. My wife and I went to the warm up BMX event last month. Already it is clear that cycling is very much a low priority on the ODA agenda. When asked if there was any provision for parking the answer was no. This was the same for Horse Guards parade, for the Volleyball. Leon Daniels@ TFL Streets is in cloud cukoo land when talking about how good the provision for cyclists is.
