Yesterday's numbers may have been low, but to those of us that ventured by for the ramble, it was great. I do think that today's bit will be what I'll visit when possible. The tide mills are intriguing.

I must be bucking the trend, then, as I look forward to your Local History Month every year.

Still here and still following along with interest!
I even click some of the links!

It's the last bank holiday weekend of the summer, it might be expected that visitor numbers are low : ) I'm still reading though and enjoying the meander through the valley...

I lived for a few years in London and in the Home Counties, but never saw the House Mill or the Clock Mill.

My interest is now especially piqued because of the Huguenot connection. I often lecture on Huguenot life, both in France and, particularly, after they left France. But who knew that in 1728, Three Mills was bought by a Huguenot consortium? And who knew it stayed within those families for a few generations?

Many thanks
Hels

As far as I'm aware, the mills on Three Mills Island spent their working life supplying the London Gin industry rather than flour for bread making.
