I think it rather telling that you name the X Factor as the People / Group who achieved 7 number ones rather than counting them individually and thereby not showing on your list. After all, it was the show itself that manufactured them to its requirements, with one of its cynical aims being to reach number 1 at Christmas. I'm proud of the fact I helped in my small way Rage against the Machine stopping them doing so in 2009!
I'm second to almost no-one in my Macca fandom, but claiming 1984, 2004 and 2012 for him are a bit of a stretch. Debatable how many of those sales were down to his presence. He only speaks on the B side of the original Band Aid (like David Bowie...) and plays bass and guitar on the 21st century ones.

But that list is quite illuminating in demonstrating that even in the late 60s, the Xmas No 1 was usually a (terrible) novelty record.
I was doing okay until I got to Ladbaby. The last 4 years of Christmas number ones seem to have missed me completely. Just plucking up the courage to investigate further.
How many Christmas number ones are there each year? Just asking because apparently hundreds of people have done one, yet less than 150 years have passed since recorded music was invented.
The three Band Aid singles credit 104 different artists. St Winifred’s School Choir wasn’t light on members either.
If you ignore artists who were part of a larger collective then this list becomes

5  Paul McCartney
4  The (other) Beatles, Ladbaby
3  Cliff Richard, The Spice Girls
2  Ed Sheeran, Queen

...which is quite dull, which is why I didn't do that.
I hadn't even heard of Ladbaby until they popped up on the telly on Christmas Eve. I have absolutely no idea of what the nation collectively listens to.
Ladbaby - a pair of millionaire tories who raise money for food banks whilst refusing to answer why the need for foodbanks has gone up in the last 11 years - can't teach the greedy
Will, Macca does sing on the 2012 record, so it's more of a tick than the 2 Band Aid songs!

Multi artist charity records are interesting historical timepieces, as they include the big acts of that era, many of which have faded into obscurity...
