Nice detective work! though I got dizzy trying to follow routes.

I’d recommend the bit of Burnt Oak brook which runs along The Meads roughly parallel with & north of Deansbrook Rd.

It’s quiet even in fine weather, close enough to shops to buy an ice cream to eat on a bridge & almost free from traffic. Dad & I used to stop there after an outing until he died 3 years ago - good memories:)
Intend to do the Green Chain later this year to complete my original 7 (though it’s bit of a disconnected set of walks). By then hopefully the new London Ramblers ones may be a bit more accessible. Another lockdown would delay it even more.
Gosh. The South Circular is absolutely the worst way to walk from Eltham to Catford. Divert north through Eltham Green, Sutcliffe Park (along the Quaggy), Kidbrooke "Village", Blackheath Park (bits of the Kid Brook, if you look), Manor House Gardens, Lewisham Park, Ladywell Fields (the Ravensbourne). Sounds better, is better.

I assume the London Ramblers read DG avidly & this is the best place to leave a proposal...
I second that last sentence, though a lot of people do need helping find places to walk. My local Country Parks and canal towpaths are heaving when the sun comes out, but other footpaths and bridleways are deserted, partly I think because people just don't know where they are or where they go. Google maps for instance is rubbish at non-road rights of way.
Using OpenStreetMap this page has a massive number of existing walks marked out (not just in this country). It's not 100% complete but it's quite a good starting point

Having walked a reasonable amount of the Forgotten Rivers Walk, it feels like 2 walks jammed into 1. By chopping the section between Golders Green and West Hendon, you could extend the northern section to loop back through a different part of the Totteridge Fields that the LOOP uses and eventually return to Hampstead Heath on the Dollis Valley Green Walk
Very nice work, perhaps I'll give some of those a try one day.
Looks like the Forgotten Rivers walk bypasses the Welsh Harp, while the Counter's Creek starts there.
I just spent hours last night on street view trying to find a way across the Brent Cross/North Circular flyovers to join the two, for my River Brent walk!

Unless they've mended the gap in the railings in the middle of the A5 in the last few months - I should be ok!
If you care to revisit Avery Hill the unnavigable thicket that you reported in 2015 to be the source of River Shuttle has just had a thorough clean-out done by volunteers. It's much more accessible now.
There's also tree planting going on in other parts of the park.
Thanks for your detective work dg.

In my opinion the 5BL is inspired (the route, not the name). The issue with the Centenary Walk is that the start point at Manor Park is remote (I know, Crossrail) and the 'foresty' bit doesn't kick off until Whipps Cross. The 5BL creates a pure walking route from Central London through the hipsterlands to the outer Forest. Spectacular for the hardy tourist as well as the inner-city dweller (and only a single tube home from Epping to take you back near your starting point).
Your last sentence brought to mind this excellent (and sweary) song by Half Man Half Biscuit.
What about the London Parks Way?
A decent map would help but it should be great
The Newham south-eastern spur of the Great Eastern Parks route looks like it ends at the Royal Victoria Dock Footbridge which eventually is planned to be linked to Thames Barrier Park in a continuation of 'green space' and sight lines following northwest from that existing weird diagonal bit in the park and passing next to Millennium Mills...
At least according to the developer bolx anyway.
