Never been, but it looks excellent. Would like to visit.

** adds København to long list **
We strongly considered moving to Copenhagen (or Malmo, just across the way in Sweden) a couple of years back, and probably would have if proximity to work wasn't a concern. Copenhagen itself is obviously very expensive, but for what you get - and in comparison to our previous home in London - it was highly compelling. Perhaps we still will one day. Bonus: the lion on the right of the entrance Rosenborg Slot has a wonderfully startled expression up close.
Oh, and we did check out the Designmuseum last time we were there. It was . . . fine. Probably even better than fine if you have a deep and abiding interest in chairs throughout the ages. I was more interested in the zoo, the planetarium, and of course Tivoli Gardens, confirming that I'm still eight years old at heart.
What a beautiful view from the top of the Rundetarn. It reminded me sadly of how much the skyline of London has been trashed in recent years, notably the once protected views of St. Pauls
Companions! And there was me thinking DG visited all these places alone - or at least with only Best Mate!
As someone who'd be hard pushed to find enough people to be companions themself, I'm intrigued now!

Sounds like a lovely visit, - somewhere I've never been!
Ah, you're reminding me about my visit there 6 years ago - I found it a delightful city to visit with lots of interesting architecture to see. I agree with the value for money for the round tower and also enjoyed walking up the Church of Our Saviour tower (spiral tower), as far as you can go around the spiral at the top.

Definitely a city to add to the visit list.
DG - you surprise me that your normally meticulous planning meant that you missed out on visiting Rosenborg Slot. I blame your companions.

I had a solo trip to Copenhagen last year and managed to visit a lot in my 28 hours there. The Rosengborg Slot is not that large inside, so can be seen fairly quickly without rushing. The Nationalmuseet is excellent - particularly the sections on Danish history. (Interestingly, almost unnoticed on one of the stairs it has part of the Parthenon frieze, aka the Elgin Marbles in the British Museuem). The SMK is good, but for art I would recommend the Glyptoketet instead if pressed for time - almost worth visiting for the building alone.

I will be interested to learn what else you did in yor time in Copenhagen, no doubt to be revealed over coming days.
