One of the main problems with such a large residential population crowded into such a confined area is that there are just two roads onto the Isle of dogs and these are already really quite congested on most days of the week, another is that the sewerage system is almost to capacity levels and yet more and more residential units are planned to be constructed, but my major concern is that the whole island will one day just sink under all the weight.
Fascinating, thanks!
A large proportion of 028H appears to be in the river, or is that just because I'm looking at a small map?
The official density calculation only takes into account land area.
Very interesting, but surprising as I thought Portsmouth had the highest population density. Perhaps this is only when taking each UK city as a whole.... or perhaps I got the wrong end of the stick entirely.
Cau1khead - you're right for the city as a whole. Portsmouth is ahead of London on overall population density.
Quite exciting to read about a theatre you'd never even heard existed. Nothing on at the moment, of course.
The issues noted by fishislandskin are true, but there are more. The water main can't cope, so Thames Water keep cranking up the pressure, so there are continual bursts on the main under the Westferry Road.

Further to the point about only two road access points. One has a lifting bridge for the docks, causes chaos if it lifts in rush hour. On top of that Tower Hamlets Council are somehow blind to the issue of only two road access points and at times permit utility companies to do roadworks on both at the same time. Gridlock.

It doesn't end here. Many more skyscraper blocks planned, most notably the infamous Westferry Printers site.

My son attempted to log on to your site and was warned of a security problem.
Are there Any problems?
While I live in a highrise building in Australia, I am not at all sure that I like the way the east of London is developing. Too much and too concentrated comes to mind.
Jerym - obviously DG is just a front for the Dark Web
What about output areas?
Back in the late 1960s I worked on a summer job for the old GLC's housing department in the East End. A few tower blocks were going up on the Isle of Dogs. Even people from Bow or Bethnal Green thought it was the back of beyond and refused to move there. Evidently that's not a problem any more!
I stayed at the Radisson Blu in 2018, when I went to the O2, one of my other highlights was the Tower Hamlets recycling centre as seen on your Blog, bit of dark tourism.

You're right about the smell!
Interesting. Is it correct that the population density determines the size of each council ward? Dolphin Square being so dense explains why Tachbrook ward in WCC is small compared to say St James's ward, but there are only 2 wards covering all the Isle of Dogs. Thought there would have been more. Perhaps it just that the whole of Tower Hamlets has high density.
