Although I normally enjoy Gormley’s work, this one leaves me a little cold. My problem with ‘living artwork’ is that I can’t help but be reminded of the character in Stephen Appleby’s strip ‘Small Birds Singing’ which used to run in the Times years ago. Maybe it’s because I keep thinking of that I can’t really take the piece seriously...

Looking forward to getting there, enjoying http://www.flickr.com/photos/meg...746028/sizes/l/

Feels like Britain's Got Talent for the middle class. I'm not interested in that either, but, this one's proving harder to avoid because it's all over the internet. Bums.

(that said, I'm not as sour as Simon Jenkins, who clearly needs a lie-down - http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/st...tion/

Yeah, it's for show-offs but I do want to see a few of the crazy people. Art is a funny thang.

I think it's a great idea, and I have done ever since I heard the proposal. Soon the media will forget about it and the circus will move on and that's when it will get really interesting. Something will emerge that is unexpected or touching or just funny or strange - just like the Weather Project had everyone joining in in ways the organisers never imagined.

That's my hope anyway

Thanks for the webcam link-my brain doesn't naturally extend to things like that. It's been great viewing. I didn't think I would like it but I do.

I'm underwhelmed, and I volunteered to stand! (Wasn't chosen though). In my innocence I thought you just had to turn up and stand around like a statue, had no idea you had to prepare an act for the crowd.

Also, don't like the 'biographies' on the website - just makes it feel far too much like Big Brother.

Have you applied to be one of the 2400, Mr Geezer?
