Fascinating stuff. I'm struck by how the evolving history of this well progresses from the fabulous and mythical to the mundane. It begins with ancient romans and mythical figures and progresses on with colorful characters from the Victorian era until it finally arrives at an ordinary backyard lot in an ordinary neighborhood.

Thanks for digging up that bit of history.
