please empty your brain below

Correlation is not causation, but maybe the drop in the amount you write and the drop in comments are linked - though it's the sort of situation where there's an element of chicken and egg (do comments motivate you to write more, or do we write more comments about text than images?)

Evidently we need to up our game in here!
"Plenty of time for all this to change" -- it is fairly certain that at least one of them is not likely to change.
Surprised the word count is down, certainly doesn’t feel like it from here.
Now you have more free time there seems to be an increase in walking about and visiting places, so there are more reasons to take photographs, but most of the comments on these posts tend to be from those who have visited or intend to, rather than have a wider opinion.
If you posted an article about HS2 or Brexit and then you would see you comments go up.

I am only joking as the gentle whimsical feel of the blog is a very welcome antidote against the voracious commenting on other platforms - you don't want to be Twitter after all.
'A picture is worth a thousand words'

the % drop in the number of words written is close to the % increase of photos posted.

the pedants' comments have also been reduced thankfully.
so the visits to the blog are much the same but the comments have dropped slightly ... OK I hereby promise I will comment more often XX
If readership/visits has remained the same I wouldn't worry about the drop in comments!
Perhaps we're so in awe of what we've just read, we're lost for words!
I do agree it doesn’t seem like a drop-off in words.
The most important thing is the quality of writing and diversity of subjects remains the same and gives us all pleasure.
My first-ever comment!
I have only just discovered your blog (courtesy of Geoff Marshall) and am enjoying it. As a previous commenter said, the quality of the writing is very good, which, for me, means that it is literate, grammatical, and easy to read (all three a rarity, these days!). Many thanks.
