The original may have only cost 50p but remember then a bus fare was only 3p, so if you scale it up, probably similar.

Blimey - 35 Years ago; how time flies!

and Egypt made no money from the 1973 exhibition, this time they take 2/3s of all ticket sales

"Top Tut tip" had me chuckling over my coffee. The 'Official Cereal Partner' tag is a bit strange though - what's next? Official Crisp Partner? Official Smoothie Partner? Actually, I'd probably like to meet him...

Official pile ointment partner? There's a retailing opportunity to be had there.

bet you were tempted by the Tutankhamun oyster card though?

Already booked! I'll be seeing it just before New Year, along with my kids. Still haven't managed the Terracotta Army though...

will be seeing it in a few weeks time, also have been to see the Terracotta Army as well which was really good.

£25 to see a dead bloke, I'd want to see him alive for that.

Debster, 50p from 1973 would be equal to about 4.5 pounds today. Here's a nifty little pound converter for inflation. (I used 1972 to 2006 as it wouldn't allow me to use 2007.)

Was at the O2 on Thurs night to see My Chemical Romance (a popular beat combo, M'lud DG). It's still a draughty big tent but at least I could get straight back by 108.

Once again, DG, you have highlighted the inherent dishonesty that afflicts the PR industry. Why do organisations shell out good money for this kind of puffery which only alienates people when they realise they've been conned?

Your prose is better than theirs too.

David Crawford - yes but putting a 3p bus fare into that thing gives a price today for a bus fare of 27p. It cost me £2 to get on a bus a few weeks ago. And I still remember it being 3p some years after that.
