Great write-up DG. Faversham's fabulous. I visited twice last summer when walking the Saxon Shore Way around (most of) the Kentish coast. Looks like I'll have to go again for all the stuff I missed!
Faversham Hop Festival - the town is full of free music, morris dancers (even the hip urban guerilla-style kind) and very boozed up revellers, all wearing garlands of hops. It's Babylon, north Kent style and a real blast.
The Three Mariners at Oare is highly recommended. It's also worth driving out to the car park where the old ferry used to cross to Sheppey at the end of Church Rd
@"we stopped for our guide to explain a bit about the farm, at which point one of the wives announced she was pregnant"

Surely the tour wasn't as slow as that?

Old joke;
Tedious guide, to woman who has gone into labour
"You shouldn't have joined the tour in that condition"
"When I joined, I wasn't in that condition"
I had no idea this place existed (Brogdale, not Faversham). I'll have to pay it a visit this autumn.
We went there years ago and brought a couple of mini apple trees. They still produce interesting apples you can't normally buy. Can't remember what they are though!
