The fact that so much is running late is probably worthy of investigation. Are any of London Reconnections' correspondents reading and able to offer any insights?
Blessed are the map loving Underground and Night Overground users for they shall pontificate over a month’s delay; meanwhile, bus users ....
How does the amount of work going on on the Underground compare to previous decades?Have TfL biten off more than they can chew with Crossrail?
As I said the other week when you went to Custom House - how odd. TfL have been well known in recent years for giving stupidly long dates for projects and then finishing them in a normal length of time after all. Now they're giving stupidly long dates and still not finishing them in time.

The fare freeze is biting I suppose.
The online maps still haven't been updated
Roger French is right. If you're planning a journey on the tube, the changes are relatively small and the network is still the same. You get two maps published (with Art if you like it) that are re-issued at intervals.
However, if you a planning a journey using buses, there have some big route changes and many more to come, so the network has altered, yet you don't get any map (with or without Art).

Can TfL explain how this policy helps travellers and visitors to the capital who wish to plan a journey by bus ?
You voted Khan and this is what you get. Suck it up.
Khan has to pay for the fares freeze somewhere. He didn't tell you about all the cuts to buses and tube wind backs in his election pledge did he.
I knew something had spoiled my Christmas but couldn't put my finger on what it was until now....
I have not read all your post (tl:dr) but I hav read the last bit and I too blame the mayor for everything.
Meh, not like the alternative was any better...
It's all well and good blaming the mayor, but not everyone voted for him gladly. He was my second choice, but I was holding my nose as I voted so.

In the second preference it only makes sense to vote for one of the front runners, and I voted for the one I agreed with most. I didn't agree with the fares freeze then and don't now, because it was all too obvious what was going to happen!

The only people who think London Underground has enough investment tend to be those who don't use it...
@ Petras409 - I suspect TfL would say the following.

Regular users will quickly learn that their service has changed. They will adapt as they have been doing for the last 18 months as we have been making changes to the network. All the route information they may need is available on line.

We still produce a central London bus map designed for tourists so they can use the main routes to get around.

Now I'm not suggesting for one second that is satisfactory but that's the way TfL's policy on information provision has been going for several years.

It is only because people get feverishly excited about the tube map and it's deemed "iconic" that it has survived in paper form. I am sure TfL would axe all paper leaflets tomorrow if they really felt they could get away with it.
Why don’t TfL pay you DG (and those with a similar interest) to proof read the maps?

Would you say no if they offered £500 for a day’s review?
Custom House reopens on Monday.

It seems odd that they didn't include TfL Rail from Paddington to Heathrow, as that will become active within the lifetime of this map. Or would it be deemed too confusing?
*wonders how many maps would be 'collected' if they were £1 each*
This tiny map is now worse than useless with so much crammed onto it, many passengers just use an app.

For the visually impaired TfL do a large print version of the tube map (in colour and black and white) and for the mobility impaired there is a printed step free access map (in two sizes) that has much more detail.
Both versions of the large print Tube map are dated December 2017
There are still some of the quadrant bus maps on line coutesy of a French (!) website, but presumably the information on them is becoming less accurate every week as service changes take place.
i picked up a copy of both the other day. the night tube map print quality seems pretty poor - it almost seems to shimmer !
A bit late, but I’ve just noticed there was a pocket Tube map release in January 2016 (probably a belated December 2015 map).
