One of those rare occasions on which I find myself having done nearly exactly the same walk as you. I was using the second series of London Transport's Country Walks from 1967. Luckily, most of the directions still applied and I could take the train rather than the Green Line coach 701.
A nice day out.
Having never been to the Great Park, I hadn't realised quite how large it was, or how much of interest the southern section contained. One to add to the list.
I'm knackered just reading this. Were you short of steps for the count or something?

Looks a fabulous place I need to explore though.
[venison sausaged] "and yes they are dear" <Groan>
What are royal approved things and can they be done in public?
I was born in Old Windsor, a village separated from Windsor itself by WGP, and so in my passport I have as Shakespearean-sounding place of birth as one could wish.

I am told that my elder brother - as a toddler - ran out in front of a car driven by Prince Philip along the Long Walk. Both survived.
Windsor Castle a place I always mean to get to, trouble is being in east London it just seems too far away (!) But I really ought to make an effort as your photos describe a destination worth detouring to. In childhood had a wonderful wooden jigsaw it was previously my Dads of Windsor Castle and did it hundreds of times. Note to self Must start another jigsaw.
