My part of Australia, with well over a third of the country's population is far from a new normal. Pubs are still closed, cafes and restaurants if open, take away only. Schools are still closed for another week for some and three weeks for others. There has been some easing. We can move around freely within our state, but we are advised not to unless essential.
Some new stuff has appeared in the supermarket, aimed at the Indian market (large bags of rice, drums of cooking oil, and products produced by East End Foods), normally you get this stuff from Asda, not sure if this is a new line, or supplies being diverted from caterers.

Bad news on the alcohol front, Bourbon, Brandy, Cognac and Whiskey running low, plenty of wine, rum and vodka.

Little disruption caused by queuing this week, more or less straight in and straight out again.

Hard to see how we ever get out of this. If only .27% of the population were infected, that means the death rate is more like 20% than the 1% we'd been led to believe. Oh, and having got better doesn't grant long-term immunity....
TheNewNo2 - you’re misunderstanding the statistics. The estimate is that 0.27% are *currently* infected, the rate of who has ever been infected is much higher (up to 10% in London I understand). No way is the death rate near 20%, 1% is a reasonable top-range estimate to me - and I’m speaking as a doctor.

I think that’s one of my biggest worries of the situation, in that statistics are being thrown around without proper explanation and panicking people (no reflection on you at all DG, it’s the fault of the government and media)...
Why on earth are baked beans and sausages still in short supply, when just about everything else is back to normal?
One thing that happened this week: I got on my bike, went to my Mum's and enjoyed a very nice walk around the quieter backwaters of her patch that she's discovered in the last couple of months.

My range box (re. 13th May post) has increased from 9x2miles to 10x7, which I make a 380% increase of box area for very little effort.
Australia is definitely not back to normal. In any case, each state has its own rules, so ‘Australia’ in effect does not exist.
I’m a bit surprised DG, you’re usually such a stickler for detail.
This is not a criticism by the way.
I only sound like an expert until I write about somewhere you know something about.

I've deleted Australia, thanks.
