And if an entirely new line were to appear which portion of the spectrum has space? Dark brown maybe?
There's definitely room for violet, the colour that was found on the hard icing part stuck on to those mini biscuits that were impossible to eat.
The label for Crossrail looks like a later addition.
I do not realise that the colour of Central Line is so orange, until it is put next to the colour of Dangleway.
... and so does the label for Dangleway. Hmm.
Based on the numbers, I make the average Pantone colour 287, which is a navy blue, not at first glance dissimilar to Piccadilly blue.

I am currently resisting the (very strong) temptation to put these numbers into a spreadsheet.
If you average out the relevant HTML codes you get #776757, which is this rather dull colour.
And there was me thinking DG had 'greyed' one of his own comments as not being directly relevant.....

TfL Rail uses TfL's corporate blue, which happens to be the same as Piccadilly blue.

Crossrail 2 is branding itself in a pale greenish yellow (Pantone 379) that's going to look just great as a double line on the white of the tube map...
Going to guess that all the colours were selected over the years by TfL and its predecessors, with one exception, which has had another commercial entity's pantone imposed upon it.
Ooh, lovely colour chart.
