How things change. There was never a bus route any where near Havelock Road when I lived in that area many years ago, in a house that backed onto Carbuncle Passage, although that road was always busy with traffic trying to avoid the High Road.
I also see that the corner shop (at the junction with Rosebery Avenue) has gone - close to where an armed robbery took place in 1965.
Maybe Burnt Oak to Borehamwood at the end of next February (or four years later)? You have mentioned the route occasionally, but not in this context.
up early this morning dg or did you cheat?
Blogger has offered the ability to 'cheat' since September 2003.
Many keenly observed snippets. All North London life is here. Maybe a slight exaggeration, like the fish shop which sells neither dolphins nor elephants, but you know what i mean.
North Midd Hospital - the place of my birth. Grew up round here, all life is in Tottenham.
I always wondered why this route was never numbered in the W series. There are plenty of others running nearby. As a W18 for instance.

If it had existed in the late 60s, it would've been my bus to school. More Tottenham please.
A new twist on a favourite feature! Love it.
And now I know what to do if event I find myself at a loose end one day!
You must've rode or followed the route of every single bus service in London by now!

Just realised from this post that I went on my birthday bus every day for years!
Someone decided to call it Carbuncle Passage not in a spirit of realism so much as one of history. The reference is to the lost man-made Carbuncle Ditch, which ran from Scotland Green to Pymmes Brook. It's briefly visible between the end of Carbuncle Passage and the railway line.
