Chucking it down here in Brisbane though it's true to say I enjoy quite a few more sunny bank holidats here than I did at home!

The Americans also have no concept of a holiday Monday at easter. Bah!

A London walk with dog in tow. Nothing could be better (except maybe the weather -- from my current vantage point).

I tend to work Bank Holidays, nice and quiet at work, get lots done, and no one to hassle. Then I can have the day of when it suits, i.e. take a long weekend when all the campsites are not busy etc.

Get a garden, then you wouldn't bemoan all those spring bank holidays, you'd love them!

Ah... just one problem then...

But, eveyone can come to love gardening...

Since I retired, every day is a holiday.

I used to wonder if the TV weather forecasters were sponsored by some DIY or garden centre chain. Pretty much *every* time a bank holiday would be coming up, they'd start saying stuff like "There's rain and showers on the way, for the weekend, so do make sure to dress nice and warm, and carry a brolly just in case"
And, in addition to the weather reports, some local news bulletins would typically include some travel announcements, as well. More doom and gloom from them. "Expect big delays on the M3, the M4 and the M27 due to roadworks, over the bank holiday weekend"
All in all, it seemed they were trying to put you off, even before the weekend arrived.
"Hey, don't even waste the time thinking about trying to get to the seaside - just settle for a nice little trip to your local B&Q instead

Grey over here in Thamesmead - fog bound and sadly work bound looking out over the still waters of the Thames.

cloudy in Rio and I'm at work!

Hey - the sun is beginign to burn away London Fog!

Got soaked this morning in North Cray, but now the sun is shining in Otford, so the husband can indulge himself in a little light fence building, and I can catch up on blog reading while crocheting a chick for the grandson. A perfect Bank Holiday Monday!! Hope yours was as much fun DG.

I always moan that a Bank Holiday comes around fast enough, I look forward to a free day from work where I can to do whatever I like, answerable to no one! Then spend the whole weekend bored, wondering what to do and end up watching a 3hr Charlton Heston epic. I feel like I'm missing something!

Excellent. This is exactly what I've been thinking this weekend. Bank holidays seem to be like buses. You wait ages for one, and then four come along at once (or at least in the space of about six weeks).

At least we only have three weeks to wait before the May bank holiday (and then another three weeks before the spring bank holiday after that).

Can't we have more bank holidays in the autumn or the winter?

I did make the most of it.

Well on Friday I went to the pictures and had a curry for my tea.

On Saturday I went for a walk round the Links and read the papers on a bench at the bowling green.

On Sunday I walked to Fisherrow Harbour and fell over on the beach, before having a poke of chips from the tidy takeaway van.

On Monday I walked to the shows at the docks, oohing and aahing at the death defying rides before stopping off in the Kitsch cafe for tea and carrot cake.

All weekends should be like that.

Last Friday, Bangkok got a bonus Bank Holiday because they expected riots.

On the Bank Holiday Monday we got the riots.

By Bank Holiday Tuesday the army had stopped the riots, supposedly.

But we kept on with the usual Bank Holiday Wednesday and the Bangkok people seemed happy enough throwing water at each other.

The Prime Minister of Thailand decided we deserved another two Bank Holidays this time for Bank Holiday Thursday and Bank Holiday Friday Part 2, probably because the army couldn't enjoy not going to the bank with the rest of us.

Six Bank Holidays. Cracking.
