In "43 Ways To Annoy A Londoner In Five Words Or Less", I wonder whether the use of the word "less" is one of the 43.

ϵ, ζ and θ were previously labelled variants of interest by the WHO. Apparently the WHO decided to skip over ν & ξ. (The nu variant of concern could certainly be confusing).

I wonder if, like mathematicians, the epidemiologists will move onto the Hebrew alphabet after exhausting the Greek one.

dg writes: updated, thanks.

30 posts you may have missed... nothing of value was lost.

Greek letters - the Chinese government will be against the use of Xi, and will a new variant ever be called Nu.
I have been near to all, but never into any, of the towns that are furthest from National Rail Stations. This is a surprise.
I am unable to identify any of the No1 songs after 2010. This is truly unsurprising.
I recognised songs in your list from the 1950's to 1980's but none after that.
Can we bring back the gooseberry Quality Street and, while we’re at it, the peanut cracknel too.
re. Grange Hill nicknames, Pongo, rather than Pogo, I think?

dg writes: No, Pogo.

Thanks also for the reminder of why I don't read those other London "top blogs".
That’s quite a blog list, uugh. With a couple of obvious exceptions thank you for not including links.
The immersive south London bar that transports you to the south of France sounds lovely at least in principle, and something that I’d like to test
Used to love Black Magic but the assortment these days is less than inspiring and no Hazelnut.
I travelled through Fakenham Station in 1944 on my way to East Rudham Station, to be met by a horse and cart for onward travel.
To be pedantic the list of prices that first class stamps have never been should include the phrase "basic inland rate". 4p was the rate for first class stamps over 2oz on 2 March 1972, 5p was the first class rate for items over 4oz from D-day to 23 June 1974, 6p was the first class rate for items over 4oz.
A classic DG posting of lists!

And much as I love OS maps, the current Landranger series doesn't quite have the appeal of the old One Inch series (of which I have all but a few from the remoter parts of Scotland).
I believe that the list of stamp prices is probably correct as it stands. Because it is prices of first class STAMPS. Not first class postage rates. There have never been stamps for first class postage above the minimum weight. Such items have to be sent with money-value stamps, or maybe multiple X-class stamps used as if they were money-value stamps.
I read every one of those 30 items, from four top bloggers, to see if just one item would perk my interest.

The last one - schoolchildren design christmas lights - started promisingly, until 'heartwarming'!

Have I become a christmas curmudgeonly old git?
Fascinating that the nearest NR station to Minehead (as the crow flys) is actually across the water in Wales!
E4 and E18 await.
AIUI officially all of the CSes are now Cs. I don't think they've made much progress scrubbing all the numbers on the road.

There are still numbered National Cycle Network routes (run by Sustrans) and zombie pre-TfL numbered London Cycle Network routes that no one seems to be in charge of.

dg writes: TfL’s online cycle map still shows CSs as well as Cs.
Both Rhoose and Llantwit Major are closer, as the crow flies, than Barry to Minehead.
Surprisingly few OS maps. Even with electronic versions available I still like to combine them with a paper map as it gives a wider view.
DominicH may be confusing Pogo Patterson with Pongo Snodgrass (now I'd've watched Grange Hill if he had been in it).

Sad to see no love for Gonch!
Unless 1990's Vogue is the Madonna one, I don't recognise any of the No 1s since the 1980s either!
You have surprsingly few OS maps.
I have a big collection of old OS maps, I also bought several maps including the severely read and orange short Landranger 39 for my family holiday this year.
Klepsie, no, Pongo Yates, I'm not imagining that.
I recognise almost all the number ones from when I was 5 until the age of 23, then an abrupt transition to none of them (though I hope but doubt that Dare is the one by Shaun Rider and the Gorillaz!).
What's happened to the coffee creme. Only one chocolate box selection still has a coffee flavoured offering.
Ongar's case is especially ironic in that it is still an essential part of London Underground, at least in a technical sense.
As a Somerset resident the Minehead/Barry technicality is one that regularly appears, should you choose to use a store finder option on a retailer's website. Barry/Cardiff are very often the nearest location, as long as you have a boat
