The restoration looks great.. I’m not a shopper but hope to go visit and appreciate the effort of preservation
Like you and other commentators have said, nice to see it preserved, but what realistic uses were there other than the one that actually happened.

Shame about the timing economy wise, it'll be interesting to see if all the retail units will eventually open.
I liked the subtle reference to Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
No Greggs?
A great account - pure gold! I would love to have an insight into what constitutes "suitably Malaysian" though.
Changes since yesterday:

• They’ve switched on some electronic maps.
• Turbine Hall B now glows blue, not red.
• The queue for pancakes is even longer.
• The sun’s come out.
Like many, I'll pay a visit to see the building, but have no real interest in (yet) more upmarket shops. Indeed I wonder how well they'll do, seeing that London is well stocked already with retail experiences.
What, no 'spoons? Where I can get a cheap pint?
The inside of the building looks more like the prison from Porridge with gangways and walkways.
Visited in the summer, sat in the parklet mesmerised by the scale and design of the exterior and was repulsed by the jarring design of many of the adjacent residential blocks.

I'm disappointed that the interior seems to be mainly retail; I thought at one point there were plans for a live performance venue, to rival the O2. I'll take a wander through, but doubt I'll stay for long.
Indeed there will be an events venue, entrance is at the north end of the building escalators not yet open but not on the scale of the O2.

Control Room A will at some point in the future be open for occasional tours when it’s not being used for hire as a venue.
For more than 40 years, I watched Battersea Power Station decay. Scheme after scheme came and went. Bullet trains, Alton Towers and football clubs. Today it felt wonderful walking inside and glimpsing the restoration and soaking up just how vast it is. The shops aren’t necessarily for me and I doubt I’ll return often but I’ll definitely bring friends when they visit London.

I also wonder if today broke all records for passenger numbers at Battersea Power Station station. The place was heaving.
Popped in this morning. Very impressed by the restoration work. Last time I was there the place was atmospheric but rather a wreck though I did get to see Duran Duran play live. I worry for the future, I mean how many electric car shops can a shopping centre support? We heard someone hoping there'd be a pound shop. More like a hundred pound shop came the reply.
They were handing out maps but sadly at least one of the bus routes was wrong. The 452 has become the 152.
There's an article about Control Room A, with pictures past and present, in the August 2022 newsletter of the Greater London Industrial Archaeology Society.
