Time to get out some old Esther Williams movies.
I have also seen synchronised swimming, technical routines for duets. Sat in the very last row of the aquatic centre, which wasn't as bad as I feared. As for the actual event, I felt it was mostly a competition to run through the elements to the weirdest music imaginable. This was definitely won by the swiss with a funny sequence of random noise, closely followed by the russians with an awkward michael jackson remix.
I saw the technical duets too last Sunday. I took my son (he's only 3 so paid £3) and it was to be my wife but she was ill so my dad (reluctantly) came along. Climbed right to the top seats, venue was hot (as expected) and I must be honest I found it a bit dull. My son lost interest after about 5 mins (bless him but he loved the park) and my Dad fell asleep. We left after about half way through.
Crikey, is there really 15 flight of stairs to go up?? I'm going to the swimming at the Paralympics, our party includes 1 person who has just undergone major back surgery, 1 65yr old, 1 73yr old, 2ppl who afraid of heights and me who is not the smallest or fittest of ppl!! Are we really going to struggle??? Is there a lift or something at all?? Thanks in advance :)
@Tina

I think there are lifts in the Aquatics Centre but they are from Ground(Lower Level) to Upper Level (Bottom of the Stairs going up to wings)

Take a look at this,it might help

@evilm thank you for the link, im guessing there will be some stairs to climb either up or down, just hoping that the lifts will take us to near enough where we need to be. Thanks again :o)

I was at the diving last week. If you are in the upper tier (block number in the 400s) then there are a lot of stairs to climb. I was with my mum who OK with stairs but not a large number of them and she had a bit of trouble getting to the top.

There are lifts at ground level (although the gamesmaker would not let her use it as it was apparently only for accredited media. You might have more success than we did) and then a flight of about 8 blocks of stairs from the upper level to the entry to the block.

That takes you to about row 45 and you then have to climb more stairs to your seat (there are 62 rows in the aquatic centre).

My advice - and I wish we had done this - is to mention mobility problems when entering and see if there is anything they can do to get you a better seat. Level 100/200 seats don't have nearly as many stairs.

PS - the view from the back rows is not that amazing. It's hard to see the action and there is only one small TV showing replays which does hurt the atmosphere. We left after 45 minutes.
And the heat, dear goodness the heat! I saw the duet free routines and it was sweltering up in the cheap seats. Someone must have noticed and opened the slats at the top of the wings though, as we got a nice little breeze through after a while.

I noticed a lot of bored kids at this event, including a roughly 12 year old lad a few seats in front of me who spent the entire session on his smartphone. GB were on 15th out of 24, and a heck of a lot of people left after their routine, which I thought was quite rude, especially as most of them made no effort to be quiet.

Also worth pointing out the lack of leg room higher up. I'm young-ish and relatively fit, but I had to swap seats with my OH and put my legs out into the aisle to avoid cramp.
@Rob thank you so much for your reply Rob, I will certainly mention mobility when we get there. The block we are in is 409, not sure of the row though. I'm hoping it is going to be fantastic, really looking forward to it so will remember your advice :o)
