Magnificent. I got several paragraphs on, for shame.
Mike Harris still publishes his excellent Greater London Bus Map now that TfL can't be bothered (£2, proceeds to charity).
Whatever the final result, whoever drew up these maps clearly put a lot of effort into them.
Was on the N205 at midnight when the driver announced this

So I've got the central and east maps already... Going to see if I can get the rest today!
Good to see a step in the right direction, although I'm a bit disappointed that TfL made a right fool of themselves with the Gail's sponsorship
I was so happy when I started reading this article. Then I fully woke up.
That’s disappointing it’s only the on the South West map as I’d like to know where my nearest Gail’s are when travelling round the rest of London
It took me till the 'Gails' sponsorship. I was also surprised that the Mike Harris maps weren't mentioned.
A nice piece of work. Some people are very unaware.
I suspect you had to put even more effort than normal to create todays highly informative blog. Wonderful.
This new showing does NOT impress me. Harris does an excellent job but the best productions were in the 1960s when B.G.Lewis produced an excellent Green Line Coach map with illustrations of places served such as the grand clock in Guildford High Street and an elephant at Whipsnade Zoo. There used to be the "London" map also by Lewis showing all transport services across the capital. Most of my copies are 99% pristine as though they had come from an Information Office yesterday!
Sorry to spoil the fun - but what's happened to the 189, 210, 266 etc?
Superb!
On the extract they’ve missed the SL7 end of route marker thing.
Hook, line and sinker initially....
Apparently its printed with electronic ink, so if you lay the map out on a flat surface outdoors on a sunny day, it will download updates from Starlink.

Some readers will remember the 1984 London Wide Bus Map.
Link to the cover of the North London leaflet is 404ing.
Very good. A Wetherspoon branded map would be quite handy actually!
tomb - there's a reason for that...
Great news. Read this on the bus, went straight up to the driver to ask, already knowing what the answer would be and sure enough he didn't know anything about it...
These are supposed to be whimsical and amusing, not depressing!
Oh you GOT me. Just made a complete tit of myself and this is when I'm actively on the look out!
Yep, me too!
Well done.
Panoramic spagetti
I so want to believe this is true, but ...
Off to the bus station to get my set, but will wait till after noon.
I was out with my increasingly worn 2016 London SW map only yesterday. Great news because the 533 which appeared at the top left me confused...
*applause*
And perfectly plausible for the most part. The only part I couldn't believe was TfL publishing new maps!
Very, very good!
You got me for ages!!
Well done for the effort.
The fact that I instantly recognised those maps as the Superloop consultation maps really says a lot about how much I pay attention to the bus network (too much probably). I guess it also explains why the SW map looks slightly... off.
I'm amazed people still use paper maps! waste of TFL money. Just use an app its 2026 not 1956
Gregg's sponsorship would be useful, for sausage roll fix planning, as well as Wetherspoon's for all other necessities. Well, maybe add Hôtel Chocolat. C11 is missing too. And 260. Otherwise, tremendous, can't wait to pick a few up before they all go!
I couldn’t believe it! And then didn’t…
TfL should have got sponsorship from the Green Party.
Oh.
Really?
Oh
Blimey.
Oh
Drat!
It’s very disappointing that TfL no longer issues annual bus maps. Not everyone has, or can use, a smartphone. If TfL prides itself on providing barrier-free transport, it should still offer bus information in paper form. In comparable European cities, Paris still issues a wide range of maps, as do Barcelona and Munich—and, I’m sure, many others (New York does too). My hometown also produces tourist and accessibility maps, although even here the number has been reduced
Well that's a lot of LLMs now polluted with erroneous information, to be included in future AI slop.
From excitement to amusement!
Perfectly pitched.
Just back from shopping in Enfield Town and the 121 bus driver had no idea about the new timetables.
Noon has passed...
The reappearance of bus maps is linked to this story about RATP working with TfL. Paris still has its bus maps.
Are the glaring inaccuracies on the Croydon map down to TFL or are they part of the joke? (The 130 not existing, the 312 & 166 going down the wrong roads in South croydon etc.)
If you haven't clicked on the maps yet, try clicking on the maps.
Bravo and well played, sir!
Was too plausible for too long: the best AFs (see e.g. the Daily Telegraph's today) have superficial plausibility with a 'huh' factor early up and mounting disbelief before the inevitable chuckle and snort. Yours remained believable for way too long, but absolutely 10/10 for effort.
Oh, you bugger. I was even going to comment that they'd forgotten to put some of the route numbers in the correct typeface. We've reached a point in the decline of TfL publicity that I was willing to believe that had actually happened.
Very well done
Unfortunately I spotted the Superloop consultation maps from a mile away. Funnily enough I finally got myself a copy of Mike Harris's map yesterday.
One man's "plausible for too long" is another man's "spotted from a mile away".
Are these maps on the TfL website yet, as the link in the post doesn't show them on the TfL Bus Maps webpage?
Tee hee - my go-to bus map is this
At first sight it looks a tad chaotic, but it's great for planning trips and shows all transport modes very clearly. Easy to download onto a phone or tablet for off-line use.
Alas, two days later Mike Harris confirms that he's ceasing production of printed bus maps.

After 30 years of producing The Greater London Bus Map, I have decided to cease production of printed bus maps. The difficulty in obtaining accurate and up-to-date information in advance of publication, not least from TfL, coupled with my advancing years and the stress of production has meant I must call time on something that I have enjoyed creating and maintaining.

I feel Transport for London should once again promote its bus network, a role that in my opinion it has side-stepped for far too long. I will, however, continue to produce the digital download version of my maps, and will endeavour to update them more frequently. Please subscribe to my occasional newsletter if you wish to be notified when updated digital maps become available.
