Not a surprise to see that this challenge is made possible by Olly O’Brien’s wonderful mapping.
I believe dg in that this is properly random. Just saying that The Ladies Who [Bus] Museum were there a week or so ago. They liked it too.
Have you ever investigated Crosby Hall? Apparently it was the hall of Richard III's house, moved stone by stone from Bishopsgate to Cheyne Walk in the 1910s. I just came across a reference to it in Josephine Tey's historical detective story, The Daughter of Time. Not sure if there's any public access these days.
The mapping is interesting in that it's straight-line geography. Which makes for some interesting borders around where I am, in that places that I would consider to be at Station X are actually 100m closer to Station Y. But Station Y has no direct route there. Or a terrible service. Or both.

I'm not denigrating the map - I love it! It's just interesting how, in suburbia at least, it can show how our minds warp the local geography to suit our needs.
Well, that removes my idea yesterday that the Mystery Count was "number of times DG has purchased a drink while out and about"
Headstone Manor is a little gem isn't it!
I'm fairly local and hadn't been to the May Fair for a couple of years so was amazed by its transformation when I went to the reopening just before Christmas.
Popped back a week or so later for one of their Tuesday talks which was worth much more than the few pounds they charged.
Local history at its best!
There is an unusual addendum to be made to DG's comprehensive write-up.

If you are too old, too lazy, or like me, just live too far away to ever visit Headstone, with very little effort you can possess your own version of the Tithe Barn at Headstone to admire on your desktop or mantelpiece. Just go to :
home.clara.net/rogerpattenden/tithebarn.html
and you can download a print to make a delightful little 3D model of the barn. You will need to supply your own cardboard (cereal packet) to make the model a bit more substantial, but everything about it is legitimate and, surprisingly, entirely free.

I have no idea who "roger pattenden" actually is, but he is clearly a philanthropist in line with the other aspects of Headstone described by DG.
Lovely stuff which I've added to my long 'to visit' list. Would probably make a good double with the Heath Robinson museum, which I note is about a 40-minute walk away.
