Glasgow had a lot of gable end murals on tenements when I was growing up, so it's established in my head that a big wall like that should have some art on it. It makes me really happy that Wood Street Walls are filling those gaps near where I live.

Temple Mills Depot - looking at the image in close up, those traffic cones have a helix molded into them, apparently this is to reduce the likelihood of them being blown over in the wind.

The second picture should have more red and a hammer and sickle....
It so reminds me of those patriotic USSR pictures! |
The very existence of organisations like Wood Street Walls fills me with joy. Long may they prosper.

Why is our heroine protecting all those irritating Europeans? Albion only.
SH (LR) nails the vibe, it's all a bit '1984'. |
I'm thinking that with three photos to view this must be a DG connections teaser. Sadly, I'm not thinking of an answer, yet!

Love the boat name.
Use of the red cross in the mural is an old-fashioned throwback. It used to be generally used for instance on first aid boxes but a combination of the Red Cross organisation getting overprotective of their logo and safety signage using green (possibly a result of the former?) means that I wouldn't expect it to have the same association for most people nowadays. |
Perhaps, Kevin, a little beyond you: that people might actually believe in extending healthcare beyond chauvinism and into universality.
You've got it wrong about Orwell too, unsurprisingly! |
Someone had begun to paint an NHS mural on the side of a building near me - but days later the management agency painted over it so now there's just a big brown square defacing the wall instead! "rolls eyes"

Fishing 4 compliments ?!

Well, there's a RED lifebelt on the narrowboat; there's a RED cross on the mural; and there are at least 4 RED buffer-stops at Temple Mills (3 visible in the photo).
But, having read DG's blog for a number of years now, I suspect that, if there is a connection, it's going to be a lot more complicated than that! |
I agree with John Simmons although maybe we have to imagine the round red buffer stops behind the 4 3 &2 to complete the visual noughts and crosses theme.
