I don't think Thames Ironworks can be called the last shipbuilders on the Thames if they closed, as Wikipedia claims, in 1912. Harland and Wolff were definitely shipbuilders and (according to this site) launched a 1000 ton vessel at Woolwich in 1971. They certainly built my boat there in 1937.

You could have dropped in for a cup of tea - I live on the Monkham's estate.
My grandfather was James Twentyman Chauffeur and my grandmother was a maid servant at The Monkhams Mansion. My father was born in the West Wing of the house in 1925. My grandfather made some Rolls Royce replicas for children and I have pictures with the decrepit Mansion house in the background. My Grandmother told me about the cellars/tunnels that stretched miles from the House and they lost many cats to that Labyrinth!
