Good for bus stop M. Doggedly working on whilst all around ground to a halt!
It's all very well Bow garage only operating services with buses that are already out on the road, but do they have enough fuel for a second day's mileage?
@Petras409 Buses could be refuelled at Stagecoach West Ham depot, going the long route to avoid low bridge at Manor Road, Leyton or even Tower Transit at Temple Mill Lane.
Not the first time something like this has happened, but it is a logistical nightmare. Lost 3 sites (Stagecoach, First and 25 bendy buses) in Waterden Road c2006 because of a big fire.
I wonder, when they splice a bit of blue plastic pipe into a cast iron pipe like that, what sort of length they replace? Is it just a couple of metres of patch-up and does that then relieve the bending moment on the pipe enough to protect the rest from cracking in ground movements?

Or do they work it like the LP gas main replacement and push a plastic pipe down the middle of the old iron pipe and have a long run of new plastic?

I only know about electrickery, these fluid thingies area mystery.
@Tunnel Bore. Water use pipe burst method as well.
...and in one swoop the water conservation activities undertaken by all the Bow residents that bothered to conserve water during the current heatwave have been wasted!
Does this mark a watershed for Diamond Geezer ( see what I did there? ) - actual embedded tweets?

It's all suddenly feeling very c21st.
Better viewing than anything that's on the telly at the moment!
What happened with the buses was that the 8 and 205 were curtailed to Old Ford all day and only buses which were working the night shift (before the flood happened) continued working. Apparently this will be the situation until Monday evening.

However, to make up the numbers, buses (not necessarily blinded) were temporarily transferred in from various other parts of the Stagecoach fleet and were used on the 8, 205 and 277. With the 205, even a "yellow 247" branded bus managed to sneak out!
An excellent report.
Oh that our newspapers would do similar

dg writes: The Sun, oddly enough, did a half decent report based on early tweets.
Sunday update: Hole loosely filled in.
Road still sealed off.
Bow Bells pub remains closed.
Kebabish takeaway remains closed.

They seem very cynical about that "flood".
I did wonder if you'd have covered this... :)
Enjoyed your *flooding chaos* headline.
Fairfield Road reopened a few days ago, with a fresh patch of black tarmac across the hole.

The Bow Bells pub is closed for three weeks while its cellar remains out of action.
