In the words of one of Spitting Image's last ever songs - imagine Chelmsford's finest in full throe:

all the people
so many people
and they all hope his mum won't die
until the very end
of Charles' life

Very amusing dg, cheered me up before breakfast.
Wonder if he will get his bus pass today.

Wonderful.

Brilliant, DG. I'm quite fond of old Charlie, as it goes; reckon he's had rather a hard time, what with one thing and another, but I dips me lid to your pome

Bang goes your chance to decline a knighthood for services to blogging, DG.

Great work, Dg.

To the Tower, with you!

(V. good. Well done)

Well, *I* like Charles.

People may not always like what he says, but at least he challenges them to think and stimulates discussion.

Did you see that great programme on last week that looked at the lives of a handful of other men born on the same day as him?

Can we run a book on how old he will be when he becomes King, 70, 75, 80?

Love Brenda and Charles, hate the institution that is the monarchy. I'd declare the republic tomorrow but for the paucity of talent available to fill the Queen's shoes. Long may they remain - by default.

'tis quite funny to see the official photo with Charles in his best uniform complete with all the medals his mummy gave him!

Hey DG, good work. I think our dreary national anthem could do with a bit of livening up. Have you thought about sending this to the powers-that-be? After all, when Charles finally becomes king, we'll need to change the anthem accordingly anyway.

The thought of Charles being King is quite worrying. He is far too opinionated and outspoken for a monarch in this day and age. Elizabeth has done a good job so far at staying quiet and out of the spotlight. Charles however likes to throw his hereditary weight around as if it still carries power or means anything more than what you or I say.

I have nothing against him being an opinionated man, I just think if he really wanted to have an active role in helping to change the country and influence people as he is seemingly so keen on, then he should join the government for that. Nobody has elected him so he has no right. It just so happens that he was born a prince and therefore that makes his opinions more powerful than yours or mine.

To be honest i'm not even hugely bothered about abolishing the monarchy or anything, I just think they need to know their place. They're a tourist attraction and a sideline eccentricity of our society with no political importance or power, nothing more nothing less.

Blackstock appears to have missed the point - the government is the monarchy's... I for one can't wait to see Charlie Boy get more involved when he takes over (and press reports last weekend say he will).
