I'm sad to hear that the Royal Mausoleum is no longer open. When I visited years ago, the visitor could climb a small scaffold to view the effigies of V & A from above.

It's surprising that the 'Firm' allows a 'goldmine' or money-making-machine like this to remain closed for so long.
Perhaps because they are well aware that taxpayers will demand more access if and when they get around to financing a renovation. I've always wanted to visit the Mausoleum, but living abroad it is difficult to fit a visit in. I think a month to six weeks Opening during the Royal Family's time in Balmoral would be perfect for a turn up and visit scenario. |
