when I looked at your first pic I wondered why you were posting pics of bin bags ... then I started reading ... oh dear, "should have gone to Specsavers"
Even more help for transatlantic readers - minus 5C is 23F in old money.
Never got the appeal of that place. Feel as though I could get most of the effect by trekking to my local butchers with a six pack of lager and asking to sit in their freezer for 15 minutes.
Heddon Street was the location for the Ziggy Stardust album cover. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17524227

Perhaps the Icehotel near Kiruna in northern Sweden next? It melts in the spring and is rebuilt each autumn using the unusually clear ice stored from the Torne river.

There are plans to move Kiruna a few miles because it is gradually being eaten by the iron ore mine (the reason there is a town there in the first place). http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/architecture-design-blog/2014/oct/22/kiruna-sweden-town-moved-east-iron-ore-mine
Kiruna is a fascinating place, even without visiting the ice hotel (which you can't in the summer anyway). It's on the way to Narvik and northern Norway.
Wonder how "green" this is. Even with it being 5c or 6c outside this place must be using a fair bit of power to keep that low temperature. Is the offset "heat" used for something useful or just pumped out?
-5C feels about the same as a London +5C, in the absence of wind. The kicker being that one's about 10% humidity and the other is about 90%.
Great article - I always enjoy candid reports like these.

Can't say I'm surprised there's no selfie of DG though!
Whatever next?
Yeah, I've thought of visiting there before but, seeing as my visits to London are almost always solo in nature, I'd just be standing in a corner trying not to look awkward.
I like Nico's idea - though it'll probably be difficult to find a 'proper ' butcher's nowadays
Well that was different and totally unexpected! Trust DG to mix it up every now and then!
Presumably, as well as keeping the drinkers from suffering from the cold, an additional role of the capes is to keep in the body heat of the clientele, to stop it from melting the surroundings.
Plus, of course... they do look very festive!
BTW: great piece, great photos :)
Looks quite cool - might pay the place a visit!
Defintely the coolest bar in London!
Whatever next? Over here we have an ice hotel
http://www.hoteldeglace-canada.com bit more than an expensive cocktail location. Not on my list though
