A fair bit of Gerry Anderson's UFO series was filmed in Black park
Pity that in the UK the Segway PT is banned for use on public roads and pavements.
I can tell I'm going to enjoy this series. There are going to be frustrations on the way (M40 junction), but joys, too.

This is going to be great way to explore obscure parts of outer London, without the bother of exercise and from the comfort of my chair in Cornwall !
DG stopped in his trek by two horses...who'd thought it! Mind you they do look as if they mean business.

@ John

Is there a specific law banning Segway PTs? Surely as a personal transportation mode it not much different from mobility scooters.
Great post, looking forward to reading about the next walks!
Ed: As far as I can tell, a Segway PT could be adapted to bring it within the requirements for a class 3 invalid carriage. It would need an adjusted speed limiter (4/8mph instead of 12mph), a horn, a rear-view mirror, a parking brake, and (if you wanted to use it on-carriageway) more lights. Of course, like any other invalid carriage, that would only make it legal for use by disabled people.
@ John
If it is any crumb of comfort to you which I'm sure it's not, Seaway's are completely banned in Norway.
Some years ago I used a sizeable chunk of this route in the opposite direction, from Rush Green (near where you encountered the horses) to Langley Park, in a circular walk from Uxbridge for North West London Ramblers. I had problems on my reconnaissance trip in the same area as you - the stretch of path alongside the motorway off Sevenhills Road was completely overgrown, and I had to crawl through for about 100 yards.
I sent a report off to the Ramblers; fortunately the Ramblers' rights of way officer for Buckinghamshire happens to be the Ramblers' campaigner-in-chief, Kate Ashbrook.
On the day of the walk, the path had (only just) been cleared - but a barrier had been left up by the clearance team at the Sevenhills Road end, which we had to clamber over!
To think you probably walked past my house!
Any excuse...

Google streetview has been in Pinewood. You can go along Goldfinger Avenue:

The mirror that made Sean Connery crash doesn't seem to be there anymore.
Oh no!!! What a shame! I think this is the first time I've ever read that you've had to abandon a walk! :(
Ben Harris:...and then there are "electrically assisted pedal cycles", perhaps a better example.
Yes. There'd be a different set of changes needed to fit within the EAPC regulations, mostly a slight weight reduction and the addition of pedals usable for propulsion. I also don't know what the power rating of a Segway motor is, but EAPCs have quite a low power limit.
