Ah well, at least t'inter is still working.

Good luck on getting into work DG!

This country cannot handle a little bit of snow...

WATERLOO & CITY LINE: Suspended due to adverse weather conditions.

Questions need to be asked...

Thanks for the update - TfL site is down so this is the best information I've got so far this morning.

It's not a little bit here - South London - circa 6/7 inches at least and still snowing.

*Gasp*

That's exactly what's been happening here in Melbourne, DG. Except here it's on account of extreme heat, rather than extreme cold.

Funny old world, eh? :/

WATERLOO & CITY LINE: Suspended due to adverse weather conditions.

Questions need to be asked...

I suspect its the usual case of not telling the whole truth. After all unlike the Victoria line (which is running) even the W&C depot is underground. "Suspended due to insufficient staff turning up to work" is probably nearer the truth.

W&C now running a good service.

Now you know why the little devil was telling you to bring work home this weekend!

Agree with Rick, you should stay home and open that folder...

just looking at the pictures on BBC News, seems like a good dump of snow you're got there in old London town - just the amount that would get me off my bike, and onto the bus and underground to get to work here in Munich! (yep, buses and underground still run, oh, the shock!). Actually the buses did stop after some snow a couple of years ago, but that was after 2ft of the stuff dropped overnight!

See, you should have done that work at home afterall!

It seems strange that the Waterloo & City Line was suspended this morning - as Pedantic mentions, it's the only tube line that doesn't actually go above ground at any point!

Still, I made it to work, and only slightly later than usual due to the fact that I had to walk (slowly) rather than catching a bus. The trains and the tubes, amazingly, were fine.

To be fair we all knew what was coming and that transport was going to be disrupted. I woke up earlier for work today and took my camera - amazingly the DLR and the Jubilee were running, with delays, and I got into town at 7.30am. The City looks amazing today. Not only for the snow but also because it's so peaceful - I could literally hear a guy on his mobile phone in the next street when I was walking up King William St, and his voice echoed.

As a Canadian, I'm shocked! Shocked, I say!

Usually you don't get snow until I arrive in March.

Drat if only I was still living in uk ,

I would make a fortune out of all you poor stranded workers....

No buses! When I lived in N'castle the buses used to whizz around in far worse weather - I thought the drivers were amazing - and I saw a double decker do the 45 degrees thing on an ice bound roundabout. I guess there are less skilled drivers in this low pay environment we've created to feed those greedy corporates.
The last time I got caught in this weather in London I ended up walking (trudging) miles because the tubes were off and only the buses were running (full to overflowing of course).
The kitties love it though.

Meanwhile the Limehouse tunnel is closed due to snow. Hello? A tunnel closed due to snow? Me thinks that whoever is in charge of this (and who on earth is in charge of that blasted tunnel) needs to get a better excuse. Snow inside a tunnel????

Well according to the TfL website engineering works were put off last night whilst they rain trains with snow clearing equipment up and down the parts of the underground that are overground.

So they seem to have done their best to keep lines clear.

Meanwhile the Limehouse tunnel is closed due to snow. Hello? A tunnel closed due to snow?

Again a bit of pedantry may have helped. It was probably closed due to snow producing exceptionally dangerous conditions on the steep approach roads.

bus service suspended?! what--is london populated with texans? here i am bummed because the weather forecasters have cut our potential snowfall from 8" to a piddly 2"!

I should imagine W&C being closed was more due to it being less important, was it not?

Bet you're glad you took work home now, big heavy bag and all...

This post made me nostalgic for my time in London! It snowed when I was there, I'd never seen snow before and was beyond thrilled.

Hope you got to work OK...

Hmmph. Try waking up to snow and realising you've got to brave not one, not two but three (I said three!) cities in one day relying exclusively on public transport :P
