Having had the benefit of staying in Solihull once, I can compare it with nearby Sutton, and I have to say that you do it injustice.

You can easily 'do' Sutton in 15-20 minutes with just one one linear but hilly main street with no deviations, whereas, Solihull did at least have a curve on its hilly main drag and a couple of outlying roads to loop around.
How did you find public transport in the West Midlands DG? Did you use any of the Platinum bus routes?
The medieval Parish Church of St Alphege is rather fine, with an unusual but atmospheric 'upper room' chapel.

Perhaps, as is frequently the case nowadays, it was locked.
