"Unless you have the right app, the only way to follow the course is to get hold of a map. What's more you need a hard copy, because the British Orienteering website doesn't let you download one, only to order one they'll send in the post."

Sorry if I've misunderstood but can't they be downloaded at https://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/poc/qe-olympic-park? I've just done so for Red South.

Regards
Ah yes, that's wrong isn't it. Although I still didn't manage to 'download' a map, only to get pdfs emailed to me.

Post updated, thanks.
I'd noticed the QR codes when they appeared across the park a year or two ago, but I'd assumed they were for the park security to check in to report they'd patrolled there. Now I know they're a bit more fun than that, I might give one of the courses a go!
Sorry, yes, I had to get the map emailed to me (which happened pretty quickly) rather than being able to download it.

Regards
The maps and courses were created by Chigwell and Epping Forest Orienteering Club, another local club who organise events regularly in east London - http://chig.org.uk/

The QR codes are for use with MOBO, a free app that scans them in on a smart phone and records your sequence/time - http://mobo.osport.ee/

I organised an event last year, using the MOBO app and the free maps - http://slow.org.uk/racereports/hackneywickresults/
That's the entertainment for tomorrow pm sorted - very very many thanks
Aha, the 'Score North' and 'Score South' downloads show all the control points in that half of the park.
(suitable for those looking for a longer activity)
Have you tried geocaching, DG?

dg writes: Bored me, Jarle.
Did Red South yesterday - nice way to tour the Olympic Park and discovered the Great British Garden. Also saw the events associated with the re-opening of Carpenters Road Lock. Thanks DG
As predicted in the text, control point 5 has just been lost within a building site.

Meanwhile the last control point I mentioned, inaccessible in summer, is a doddle to see and reach in winter.
