Was up there yesterday and thought the lack of queues, size, height and open-airness was a nice change from many other buildings in the area.

From high up it was interesting the impact the bright stripes of the top few floors had on the streets below. Looking down, I could see people standing in bright green spotlights of light without noticing. I can't say I've been aware of it myself when walking around Fenchurch Street, but I imagine it'll be hard to ignore now.
Sorry dg but you're showing your age! The PO Tower became the BT Tower in the early 1980s.

I am with DG. The PO Tower is the PO Tower, and The Dome is The Dome.
^ and CrossRail is CrossRail
Agree with all of the above!

Seeing as I still haven't got round to visiting the Sky Garden, having another one in the area might now give me the push I need!
We need another Blitz to get rid of all this rubbish building.

Oooo matron!

"anyone who's taken a big lens up the Shard"
Sadly I've not been...

Thank you for posting this. I went today, and indeed it was all as you say. I was a little surprised at how relatively low the barrier edge glass was...I suspect further safety measures may have to be implemented if a determined person with suicide on their mind gets up there, sadly.

One amusing thing is that when the lift back reaches the ground floor, the door does not automatically open. Five of us stood in it long after 'ground floor; was announced, well over a couple of minutes, until I tentatively pressed the button and the door sprung open...we all laughed as we left, the security guard looked puzzled.
I suspect anyone up there with a big lens would have bought a polariser with them to help with the reflections ;)

It's an opinion. London was nicer without all this high rise crap.

dg writes: I was looking at the first half of your opinion, not the second.

Yeah - that was tongue in cheek
