When it comes to DVD players I buy the cheapest. Alba is fine. I suspect they use the same chip as the expensive Sony model. Sometimes you get what you pay for. At other times you are just paying for the brand name.

Handy hint: use the little blue boxes by the catologues to check that things are in stock before queuing.
Even handier hint: use their website to reserve stuff in advance. Then you can just go in, use the auto-pay machine (they even have one in small local town, so I'm sure they're in most places now) and go straight to the pick-up point. Quicker than any other form of shopping I've found.
I've always thought that they missed a trick not writing 'Argos' on the pens, as of course people nick them - and it's not discouraged. Screwfix Trade Counter 3" pencils are branded - builders/DIYers take them, use them, remember where to go next time they want cheap and quality. Maybe the small turquios and light blue pens are now iconic enough to be synonymous with the Argos brad even though they are unnamed? I can remember when the pens were BW Blue  And weren't they red at one stage too?

Our Argos is quite sinister, as the warehouse is only 10ft deep but must have some sort of Tardis qualities.
Mind you, the clientele normally have some sort of retardis qualities, so Yin and Yang eh?
