"Faraday ... inventing the Bunsen burner along the way". A rare counter-example of Pedantic of Purley's rule of inventions (see Monday's comment about Newton). Still, a Faraday burner just doesn't have that alliterative ring about it.

There's a building in Queen Victoria Street in the City which is called Faraday House. I think it's because Faraday had a lab there. It's pretty much opposite the Mermaid Theatre.

There is a handsome bronze statue of Faraday in Savoy Place, looking south across the Thames towards his birthplace.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:

Faraday House is the main switching centre for BT.

'Current Legacy' Did no-one spot this electrical link? I used to live at the Elephant & Castle, so happy memories! Charlie Chaplin was born in the area too, there is/was a pub named after him.

Erm, I believe Shakespeare died in 1616, not 1624.

dg writes: erm, cough, yes... and it only took 20 hours for that deliberate mistake to be spotted.

Twenty hours! Pedantic of Purley must be slipping.
