I have your Flickr account on an RSS feed. I was quite surprised to see 35 new photos pop up.

Good stuff, by the way.

Thanks for these dg. I'd never heard of the Wandle despite recognising the first pictures as 'twas near where I grew up.

Yes, the walking group I'm in did this walk earlier this summer. It's surprising how green (countryfied) many parts of it are.

Well worth doing.

I used to live in Trentham St. SW.19 and the Wandle used to wander through the sub floor! We had a pump with a float switch to push it up into the drains!

When tested it was pure clean water!

BTW where does Young's Brewery get its water from?

First I hear of this as well

Good uncovering yet again!

I am planning to do this walk myself in the not too distant future. I'll know what to expect now

Imagine my surprise when I was flicking through the latest edition of Time Out, and lo and behold, an article by DG on The Wandle Trail...WTF? I just read the blog....how did this happen? Do you do it often?

Very good photos DG, but I come from Croydon, and I think the Wandle starts in Wandle Park or Waddon Ponds before flowing west to Carshalton. It then runs via Mill Lane under Beddington Lane into Beddington Park. I don't think this section is included in the walk. The river Graveney is just a stream, mostly covered over but runs behind houses in Thornton Heath and goes north through Norbury. It is visible at Hermitage Bridge on the A23 at the London boundary.

You're right, the Wandle does rise at Waddon Ponds... but it has a second source at Carshalton Ponds.

The original Wandle Trail (the arty footpath) starts in Carshalton, while the more recent Wandle Trail (the accessible cycle path) starts back in Waddon.

Thank for clearing that up. Wandle Prk used to be quite smart 100 years ago,(so they say) but has gone down a bit lately. You can see it from the tram, it runs alongside.

DG goes south of the river with camera and I miss it !
Glad I found it today - enjoyed the pictures.
Plough Lane - the Dons are long gone but the Dogs are still there next door!
