Back in the days when hovercraft ruled the waves, there would be an annual picnic on the goodwin sands. The hovercraft would load up with passengers and land on the sands. I believe cricket was also played. Those crazy kent folk.

Love your blog. reminds me that I need to visit france soon. LOL! Keep it up Diamond!

Two great posts. Wonderful photos. Glad you didn't fall off the cliff.

There is a little boat that does "White Cliffs Tours", giving a rather good views of the cliffs. Haven't been on it myself, it's in a rather awkward place for tourists to find it (arse end of a shopping complex).

If you're brave enough, return in the summer when the cruise ships, navy ships, tall ships are there and the Regatta is taking place. The tall ships are often rather impressive. I'm sure that the Grand Turk (of Hornblower fame), will be making its annual return during the summer months.

Where's your next stop, Folkestone?

Ah one, a two, a one two, three, four...

I think your blog is gr8 and it kinda pulls one towards London. would like to visit it someday...

My palms got sweaty just hearing about you approaching the edge. Phew.

Good God, what madness! I hate to think what you've just done to your insurance premiums with that unqualified ad hoc risk assesssment. I bet you didn't get any forms, did you? And nothing in triplicate, either, I presume. Did you even form a committee?

Tcha...

Lovely, but where are the "spectacular views"?

Beezer blog - just checked out your dover day and the underground anagram map, was in London last w/end and am having chortlefest at fact I was staying in 'Why Kick Acne'!

Love this! a break from the dirge... keep writing!

xx M xx

I love Dover. I wouldn't go close to the edge of the cliffs because I'm certain I'd just lose my balance or stumble off. Heights. Anyway, it's spectacular to see, and I especially love it during the winter - it's quite bracing, and there aren't so many tourists.

Excellent

Thanks for the pictures. Anyone useless enough to fall off is natures way of balance.

Either way, I'd hardly leave the car park!

Those are some nice pictures... congrats on making it as a "Blog of Note!"

One of my favourite "never yet seen" headlines: Last Post for Popular Blogger.

What a beutiful place! I love lighthouses. Nice illustrations on your blog.

This post just reminded me of one of the best days ever, which included the car breaking down on the way to Dover and a visit to the Cliffs before heading across to Calais. Sadly, we took a ferry as the Hovercraft was a thing of legend at that point.

Beautiful pictures.

Where's your next stop, Folkestone?
part2

God they're gorgeous! I'd love to see them in person some day!

Stonehenge has NOTHING on this.

The walk behind dover castle is magnificent as you continue along the cliffs tops towards st.margrets bay, the flora and fauna are also as lovley as the amazing views towards calais, france,
Having lived in dover all of my life I still find time to visit this wonderously beautiful area.
