Excellent piece on a little visited part of London. Love your photostream too!

I totally agree DG. The areas hitherto untouched by commerical development (and thus a bit interesting) become the hot 'new' places to live...but then everyone gets in on the act, ruining it by making it look the same as everywhere else. Same in Camden Town: people flocked to the area because of its individuality, but now the big chains and property developers are getting their hands on it and its becoming all Wetherspoon, Starbuck and Virgin Megastoreified.

I reckon that most borough's museums are worth a visit, most of them work with local schools as well. Lot of unsung heroes there.

Also if you visit http://www.brandindex.com (a yougov enterprise) you will discover that the winner of the lowest percieved value in any fashion brand is....wait for it.......drum roll.... Burberry! Oh. You're not surprised. Ho hum.

They pay me 50p most weeks to put Burberry down in that survey...

I'll pay you £1 to humanely put down anyone who wears Burberry....

The Broadway Market was started in 2004 in spite of Hackney Council. They joined in the activity once it was successful. Hackney had one or two previous abortive attempts at this, the most notorious being when Tower Hamlets thought it would be a good idea to close Columbia Road Flower Market in the 1990s. Hackney thought Broadway Market would become the replacement!
