Whenever I'm in London I make a point of visiting the Museum of London, I've seen it grow from quite humble beginnings way back in the 80s and I'm always pleasantly entertained by its walk through displays, even the temp exhibits are always interesting - even the cafe isn't half bad.

Goodness me, I am a Londoner and have never been - tsk tsk

I took a wander round last year when I decided to walk from Whitechapel into the centre and happened to pass by. I didn't even know it existed before.

Shush you! The good thing about the museum of London is that it remains realtively crowd free even at half-term, don't go round saying it's good or I'll have to find alternative places to take my knowledge hungry child.

But, but...
How many points do you get for spotting what?
And does one get a Big Chief DG certificate when one gets to 1000?

It was a great way to kill a lunch hour back when I worked in the City.

You are in the wrong job.

DG for Big Chief I-Spy!

I went last year, and was entranced by the Victorian (I think) photographs. All those people living their lives all that time ago.

(I only found it because I drove past it in my ambulance once and vowed to head there one day).

Like Chz - I was spoilt: used to spend a couple of lunchtimes a week in there - as I worked on the opposite end of the Highwalk (just follow the yellow line) on Moorgate. The Barbican used to be my stomping ground before Hammersmith and then Slough; memories: I was (still am) a library member, galleries, theatre etc. Great place - looking forward to your spy series!

Thanks another great tip for when I next visit London in `06.

We went recently to see the new Medieval London gallery. I thought it was very well put together, but some of the display labels were a bit annoying -- "Vorsprung durch Technik" for high-tech German stoneware?

Do present-day pop culture references have their place in what (i assume) is meant to be a permanent gallery? OK, "The Italian job" (same exhibit, making a similar point) is probably a longer-lasting reference but it still annoyed me for similar reasons.

I went there first in the late 70s on a school trip, and finally made it back last year - it was just as wonderful as I remembered it being when I was 9.
