I bet they got that idea from New York!

Great ideas. My local pub doesn't cost an arm and a leg either. Happy New Year Diamond Geezer. All the best to you in 2006!

Imagine Bob Crow sunning himself in Egypt today - ooops that's not a dream but a reality.

BTW I never plan to go into town on New Year's Eve, it's always overcrowded and a nightmare to get home and I always go somewhere more local. Tonight it's walking distance at my local comedy club which is also putting on a disco.

Happy New Year - DG - whatever it is you are doing

Loving your number 8 on the list dg

And I am working tonight, so no boozing/partying for me anyway...

Happy New Year dg. Thanks for being so consistently enjoyable on my daily blogroll.

Or you could try the traditional New Year routine off *cycling to a party in Forest Hill*

What am I letting myself in for?

What compounds the problem is when you moved out of London, and still want to spend NYE in London. Add National Rail into the equation, and true london spirit comes out I wonder where all the big-bonus earning Investment bankers are going tonight?

Never done New Year's Eve in Trafalgar Square. Did it in Times Square once - six hours of standing in the freezing cold with nothing to eat and nothing to drink (but then that was a good idea, because there were no toilets either...). All to see a small crystal ball slide down a pole and hear Cyndi Lauper sing three random songs no-one recognised. But at least NYC knows how to get the streets clear quickly - we were back in the hotel within 20 minutes downing Guinness!

Or you could try the even more traditional New Year's Eve celebration of giving up trying to stay awake by about 10.30pm, and going to bed early instead. Please note: duvet must be pulled over head to ensure the full effect.

Happy new year, DG.

Happy New Year DG.

(I'm staying in, I could get drunk any time of the year were I so inclined, which I very seldom am).

Looking forward to reading you next year.

Did London NYE in 1998 - died of boredom. Police were making people empty their drinks, there was no music, no nowt - couldn't even hear the chimes. Total waste of time; people must be mad. (Can't do NYE anyway, have book to finish)

Happy Noo Year DG from all the Planarchists
