I remember reading... (oh, hang on, I'll look it up in Wikipedia) Right. The WW2 battleship HMS Anson was originally to be named HMS Jellicoe.

For whatever reason, probably a combination of not being dead long enough and Admirality finally admitting that his performance at Jutland was lacking, they decided that the ship would be better off as the seventh HMS Anson.

There's a similar story for Beatty, except that ship became HMS Howe.

Monuments like these are a godsend to the hoi polloi looking for something to laugh at.

Jellicoe is begging to be made into a film starring Sean Connery.
