“leaving supporters to walk around at pavement level and chatter about the good old days”

Nice to see lots of their elderly supporters were there reminiscing about 1961 😂
'Spurs Match Day Parking £15' below a notice reading 'Scrap Man Here', almost as reassuring as a pie shop next to a barber.
Re: (The pub) "ironically had to be demolished to make way for the stadium that would no longer bear its name"

Sound like patricide / matricide and changing the family name at the same time.
A road much travelled in my younger days, this post prompts hazy memories of great nights out in the 'palaces of entertainment' at either end of WHL.
There was once an enormous "Wonderloaf" bakery approximately opposite the Haringey Borough ground, whose squat and square delivery vans were a common sight in the 60s and 70s.
Also I remember seeing the uncelebrated grave of John White (midfielder in the Spurs double-winning side of '61, who was killed as a young man by lightning on Crews Hill golf course) among the resting populous in Tottenham Cemetery.
Hashtag United of the Eastern Counties league play at Coles Park too.
... London Skolars, the capital's premier Rugby League team

Way to bait London Broncos fans, there, DG. They'll both be very annoyed.
Just round the corner from me. I'm a season ticket holder and can't wait for tonight. Doesn't matter what the club call the ground, it will always be White Hart Lane to the supporters. COYS.
Who cares!
[The pub] "ironically had to be demolished to make way for the stadium that would no longer bear its name."

Not a criticism, just an observation: Is that actually an irony? Perhaps in the sense of Greek drama; I'd argue it's vexatiously consequential...

(and that's today's allocation of pretentious words all used up)
Although I have not the slightest interest in football, I do like a good 'how an area has developed over time' post and this was one of your best.

Also got lost in the National Library of Scotland map site again for ages! Thanks for the link.
"towards" what?
Come on Palace!
Another classic, thanks.

A few yards away from the junction with the Great Cambridge Road is one of London's most unusual church buildings, especially the interior (at the bottom of the page) which features catenary arches and a motorway bridge-like organ loft.
haringey borough actually operate a free season ticket to those who apply online. No idea how this affects parking (i bike there, personally)
