I thought you might have stumbled across the bones of David Attenborough there, but perhaps you are a bit premature for that. Zetland Street was where my Father was born in 1901, and I thought from the old photos that it could not get any worse - but at least it had character then.

I can recommend "The Shabby Paradise" by Eileen Bailey for a little girl's account of what it was like to grow up in that area before the tide of concrete washed everything else out of the way.
