Get your news online. The Guardian website has remained refreshingly international, while still covering the London situation (understandably) in some depth. |
Or don't watch the news at all. Or only the local news from your region. Works for me |
Why does moving out of London seem like a tempting prospect to me all of a sudden? *not likely* |
I've vowed not to talk with a London accent so I won't be targeted or requested to appear on the news or asked if I cycle to work. |
Pffft :D Seriously, I would like to know why I know witnesses to at least two armed raids and have heard of a sh*t load more; why streets keep getting evacuated; what the hell is going on; why the polis all have guns; and whether there is any suspicion of an attack in this city.. Even the bliddy Local News just waffles on about London. Gah! |
I thought about 30\\% of the UK population lived either in Greater London, or within commuting distance of it? |
Poor old Birmingham - even its extraordinary inner city tornado has been overshadowed by Northern Ireland, and more bloody London. |
London is the centre of the universe. Everyone should live here (sometimes it seems like they do). |
It's funny you should say that, dg (and I've seen your comment above too), but it seems from here in Birmingham that we're having a lot of attention paid to us in the last 48 hours. Terrorists and tornadoes in two days. I went on the trail of the first one yesterday (see photos) and the bloody tornado came to me today - I've been out around the neighbourhood tonight and realised I'm lucky to have a roof on my house. More photos of that tomorrow... |
Only way I get my news is by visiting you! Thanks for the Sharm link too. I used to live near the there - over the water from Egypt. Have to say though, I always did like my trips to the Big Smoke. Earning it's name these days, isn't it? |
You just know that if that tornado had hit London we'd never have heard the last of it. |
